Fatal North Hollywood, Los Angeles County homicide death of Mayra Jimenez – Obituary

Mayra Jimenez, 55, was confirmed as the woman found dead inside her North Hollywood home after suffering severe blunt force injuries in a case that Los Angeles police are treating as a homicide.

Early Wednesday morning, officers responding to a welfare check in the 5600 block of Satsuma Avenue discovered Jimenez unresponsive inside the residence. Her husband, 45-year-old Glendale firefighter and paramedic Andrew Jimenez, had alerted authorities after being unable to contact her.

Police said detectives secured the scene and determined the victim had died from blunt force trauma. The Los Angeles Police Department’s Robbery-Homicide Division is handling the active investigation, which authorities have described as an apparent incident of domestic violence.

Andrew Jimenez was taken into custody shortly after the discovery of his wife’s body and was booked on suspicion of murder. Jail records show he is being held on $2 million bail, and the Glendale Fire Department has placed him on administrative leave pending further proceedings.

Family members told local media that Mayra was a third-grade teacher at Wilshire Park Elementary School in Koreatown. Police have urged anyone with relevant information to contact the LAPD’s Valley Bureau homicide unit as the investigation continues.
