Tyrhonda Grant, 45, lost her life in a serious traffic collision that occurred on the evening of Wednesday, January 21, 2026, in Dade City, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Authorities said the crash happened around 6:45 p.m. at the intersection of Curley Road and Saint Joe Road. A Ford F-150 driven by a 16-year-old Dade City male was heading north on Curley Road when it allegedly failed to stop at a posted stop sign. The truck entered the intersection and struck an Audi Q5 traveling westbound, which was being driven by Grant.
Following the collision, both vehicles were forced off the roadway. The Audi overturned, and Grant was ejected from the vehicle during the crash. The Ford pickup caught fire after impact. Emergency responders arrived at the scene and determined that Grant had suffered fatal injuries; she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The teenage driver of the Ford F-150 sustained injuries that were described as non-life-threatening and was taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. His condition was not considered critical.
Florida Highway Patrol officials stated that the investigation into the crash is ongoing. No charges have been announced as investigators continue to review evidence and determine the full sequence of events leading up to the collision.
