Fatal Ottawa, Ontario car crash death of Cole Misner – Obituary
Authorities have confirmed that the man found dead in the snow near a vehicle crash in Ottawa is 24-year-old Cole Misner. Misner, a devoted father of two and partner to Loraleigh Bailey, was discovered the morning after his minivan rolled over late Friday night near the Vernon community, approximately 13 kilometres from their home in Winchester.
Ottawa police responded to reports of the rollover around 11:30 p.m. but were unable to locate anyone at the scene and left. The following morning, an officer returned and found Misner deceased near the vehicle. The Special Investigations Unit (SIU), Ontario’s police watchdog, is investigating the circumstances of his death, including the actions of responding officers.
Family and friends described Misner as fiercely loyal and hardworking. He and Bailey had planned to marry later this year and hoped to eventually own a farm. Bailey said the loss has been unimaginable, and she is navigating funeral arrangements while caring for their young children.
The SIU investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to determine the exact circumstances of the crash and Misner’s death.
