Fatal Oklahoma City homicide deaths of Artis Reed, Thomas Lovelace, Emmitt Gresham, and Nicholas Spencer – Obituary

Oklahoma City experienced a violent weekend with four homicides occurring in less than 24 hours, bringing the city’s total to six in the first 18 days of 2026. The victims included 33-year-old Artis Reed, who was fatally shot during an argument at a residence in northwest OKC. William Johnson, 54, was arrested and charged with murder in Reed’s death.

Later that night, 41-year-old Thomas Lovelace was shot multiple times outside a northeast Oklahoma City business following a verbal dispute. The suspect, 18-year-old Deonta Walker, was arrested and also charged with murder.

The next day, 19-year-old Emmitt Gresham was found with gunshot wounds in a northeast apartment and was pronounced dead shortly after being taken to the hospital. No suspects have been arrested, and the motive remains unclear.

The final fatality occurred on Sunday night, when 25-year-old Nicholas Spencer was fatally stabbed by his younger brother, 19-year-old William Spencer, during a domestic dispute at a home near SE 44th Street. William Spencer was arrested and charged with murder.
