Fatal Colorado Springs pedestrian crash death of Alan Krause – Obituary

Alan Krause, 76, of Colorado Springs, was struck and killed by a vehicle on January 2, according to the El Paso County Coroner’s Office. Emergency responders pronounced him dead at the scene near the intersection of North Cascade Avenue and East Espanola Street around 5:47 p.m.

Police reported that the driver remained at the scene and cooperated fully with authorities. Preliminary investigation indicates that Krause was crossing North Cascade Avenue near Espanola Street when he was hit, and officials do not believe speed or impairment played a role in the collision.

This incident marks the first traffic-related fatality in Colorado Springs for 2026, compared with no deaths from traffic accidents at this time last year.
