Luke Abrahams, 20, from East Hunsbury, Northampton, passed away on January 23, 2023, at Northampton General Hospital after developing sepsis and necrotising fasciitis, a rare and life-threatening infection. He had initially reported a sore throat a week prior to his death.

The inquest into Luke’s death concluded with coroner Sophie Lomas issuing a narrative verdict. While the investigation found a significant failure in basic care, there was insufficient evidence to determine that neglect directly contributed to his passing.

Luke’s family released an emotional statement following the inquest, marking the third anniversary of his death and reflecting on the impact of his loss.
