Fatal Mamakating, New York car crash deaths of Gary A. Burlew and Jeffrey Burlew – Obituary
Authorities have identified the two men who were killed in a vehicle crash on March 9 in the Town of Mamakating as Gary A. Burlew, 66, and Jeffrey Burlew, 38, both residents of Bloomingburg.
According to New York State Police, the crash occurred just before 7 p.m. when a 2022 Nissan traveling northbound on Winterton Road failed to navigate a curve. The vehicle crossed into the southbound lane, left the roadway on the western shoulder, and struck a utility pole.
First responders from the Bloomingburg Fire Department extricated the occupants from the vehicle, but both men were pronounced dead at the scene. The Mamakating First Aid Squad also assisted at the crash site.
State police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. Anyone with information or who may have witnessed the incident is asked to contact the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation at the Wurtsboro barracks.
