David Kilgore, from Mississippi, lost his life in a Friday evening crash on I-12 near the Albany/Springfield exit that involved his sedan, another truck, and an 18-wheeler. Authorities say Kilgore’s vehicle veered into the westbound lanes after crossing the grass median, colliding first with the 18-wheeler and then with another truck. According to police, a sedan traveling the wrong way entered the westbound lanes at mile marker 32 and collided head-on with an RV motorhome. The sedan immediately caught fire. The occupants of the RV sustained minor injuries and were able to exit safely. Emergency crews closed the interstate for approximately six hours as they responded to the scene.

Authorities continue to investigate both incidents, describing them as tragic events for the Albany community and asking residents to keep the victims’ families in their thoughts.
