Authorities have identified John Gross, 61, of Glenville, Pennsylvania, as the man who lost his life in a two-vehicle collision Thursday morning in North Codorus Township, York County.
Emergency crews were dispatched at approximately 6:35 a.m. to the 1700 block of Seven Valleys Road after reports of a serious crash. Responders from the Northern York County Regional Police Department and the North Codorus Township Fire Company arrived at the scene, and the York County Coroner was later called.
Officials said the crash involved a pickup truck and a tractor-trailer. According to investigators, Gross had been driving the pickup northbound on Seven Valleys Road when his vehicle crossed into the southbound lane and collided head-on with the tractor-trailer.
Crews at the scene reported that the tractor-trailer caught fire following the collision, although the extent of the fire was not immediately confirmed.
Gross was pronounced dead at the scene by the York County Coroner.
Traffic disruptions were expected in the area, with closures reported near the intersection of Cemetery Road and Zeiglers Church Road for several hours as authorities investigated the crash.
