Fatal Tempe car crash death of Jake Brian Bowen – Obituary

Authorities have released the names of two men who lost their lives following a wrong-way collision in Tempe earlier this month. According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, 22-year-old Jake Brian Bowen, a resident of Queen Creek, was one of the victims.

The incident occurred at approximately 1:30 a.m. on February 15 along the westbound lanes of US 60 near milepost 171, at the ramp connecting to Broadway Road. Investigators said Bowen was driving in the wrong direction when his vehicle collided head-on with another car. He was pronounced dead at the crash site.

The second driver, identified as 38-year-old Abu Sayed Bin Abuya of Phoenix, survived the initial impact and was transported to a nearby medical facility. Despite medical efforts, he passed away several hours later due to his injuries.

A witness named Peter Harris observed the aftermath and recorded video using Meta smart glasses. Officials continue to review evidence as part of their ongoing investigation into the deadly crash.
