Officials with the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office have confirmed the identity of a woman who lost her life in a traffic collision Wednesday afternoon along State Route 14 near Newhall Avenue and Interstate 5.

Claudia Funk, 35, was pronounced dead at the scene after emergency crews arrived, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Authorities noted that her place of residence was not available at the time the information was released.

Investigators reported that Funk had been driving a blue sedan when the vehicle became lodged beneath a large tractor-trailer. Information about what caused the collision has not yet been determined.

The California Highway Patrol stated that it remains unclear whether alcohol or drugs contributed to the crash as the investigation into the circumstances continues.
