Fatal Beaufort County crash death of Michael Blankenship Jr. – Obituary

Michael Blankenship Jr., 35, of Ridgeland, was killed late Wednesday night in a head-on collision on S.C. 170. The Beaufort County Coroner’s Office confirmed that he died at the scene from blunt force injuries.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 11:15 p.m. near Oldfield Way when a 2019 Infiniti QX50 traveling the wrong way on the eastbound lanes struck Blankenship’s 2009 Toyota sedan head-on. The Infiniti’s driver suffered injuries and was transported to Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
