A longtime public works employee was among two drivers who lost their lives following a head-on collision Sunday afternoon on a snow-covered roadway in Lower Nazareth Township.

The Northampton County Coroner’s Office confirmed that 59-year-old Edward A. Segreaves died at the scene after the crash on Nazareth Pike at Gradwohl Switch Road. The second driver, 22-year-old Lucas A. Snyder, was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital-Anderson in Bethlehem Township, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Officials determined that both men suffered multiple blunt force injuries, and their deaths were classified as accidental.

Authorities said Segreaves had been driving a Chevrolet pickup truck, while Snyder was behind the wheel of a Subaru sedan. The vehicles collided on a wet and slippery roadway as winter weather was moving into the area. Investigators have not yet determined the exact cause of the crash.

Segreaves had been employed by Wilson Borough’s public works department for more than 25 years. Local officials said he had been on his way to assist with road preparations ahead of the approaching blizzard when the collision occurred.

Community leaders described him as a devoted worker who took pride in serving residents and helping maintain safe road conditions, even during severe weather.

Meanwhile, Snyder was a recent graduate of Nazareth Area High School and was attending community college at the time of his passing.

An online fundraiser was created to help support Segreaves’ family and assist with funeral expenses, drawing strong support from community members.

Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.
