D.C. police have identified the second victim who died in a car crash following a police chase that occurred in early July.
According to the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD), 17-year-old Dashawn Harris from Southeast, D.C., and 18-year-old Zagory Leo Hill from District Heights, Md., lost their lives at the scene of a fiery collision in the District at approximately 12:35 p.m. on July 2.

The MPD reported that U.S. Park Police and Anne Arundel County Police were pursuing a BMW linked to several robberies. The vehicle was traveling “at an apparently high speed” on the 4100 block of Southern Ave. when it lost control, veered off the road, and mounted the sidewalk.
“The BMW continued southbound, striking a tree with such force that it split the vehicle in half, with the front part rotating until it came to a stop against an iron fence,” MPD stated in a news release.
Nineteen-year-old Demetri Koger was ejected from the car. He attempted to flee but was apprehended by the police. Koger was charged as a fugitive from justice and taken to a hospital for treatment of his injuries.
Police identify woman killed in Fort Dupont Park
Responding officers, along with DC Fire and EMS, had to extricate Harris and Hill from the vehicle, and both were pronounced dead at the scene.
Harris was identified on July 3, while the D.C. Office of the Chief Medical Examiner and MPD investigators did not identify Hill until July 15.
