Jason Rodgers, a 54-year-old resident of Discovery Bay, lost his life Wednesday night following a single-vehicle collision at the intersection of Vasco Road and Camino Diablo in Brentwood, authorities confirmed.

The Contra Costa County Coroner’s Office publicly identified Rodgers after the incident. According to the California Highway Patrol, he was traveling northbound on Vasco Road when, for reasons still under investigation, his vehicle veered off course and struck a traffic pole positioned on the southeast corner of the Camino Diablo intersection.

Emergency personnel responded to the scene, but Rodgers was pronounced dead at the location of the crash. The circumstances surrounding the collision remain under review.
