Fatal Orange Township crash death of Anastasia Jehorek – Obituary
Anastasia Jehorek, 17, tragically lost her life after being struck by an SUV while riding her electric scooter in Orange Township, according to her family and the Delaware County Coroner’s Office.
The incident occurred around 3:45 p.m. on Feb. 27 along State Route 750 near East Powell Road. Authorities with the Ohio State Highway Patrol reported that Anastasia was traveling on the shoulder of the roadway when a Mazda CX-50 crossover SUV hit her. She died as a result of her injuries.
Her mother, Dainay Jehorek, shared that Anastasia was a senior at Olentangy Orange High School and had been on her way to work at the time of the collision. A GoFundMe page established by the family described her as a radiant presence who intended to join the military following her graduation.
Remembered as gentle and kindhearted, Anastasia had a deep affection for animals, often bearing scratches on her arms from playing with the family’s cats. Her mother lovingly recalled her soft, beautiful voice, especially when she would read stories to her younger sister, creating what she described as unforgettable, tender moments.
In a message addressed to families, Principal Ellie Ellis called the teen’s passing a devastating blow to the school community and extended sincere sympathies to her loved ones. School officials announced that counselors and support staff would be available beginning March 2 to help students and faculty cope with the loss.
