Fatal Mason County, West Virginia crash death of Nathan Ntengu Kabongo – Obituary

Nathan Ntengu Kabongo, 21, of Fairfield, Ohio, lost his life Saturday after a vehicle plunged over a retaining wall along US-35 in Mason County, West Virginia, authorities confirmed.

The Mason County Sheriff’s Office released Kabongo’s identity following the deadly incident. Emergency responders at the scene reported that the vehicle first traveled into the center median ditch near the 16 Mile Creek Bridge. It then struck a road sign before continuing forward into a concrete retaining wall separating the lanes of traffic.

After breaching the barrier, the vehicle went over the wall and dropped to the lower level beneath the highway. Kabongo was pronounced dead as a result of the crash and was the only confirmed fatality.

The circumstances surrounding the collision remain under investigation.
