Authorities have identified the pedestrian who died after being struck by a vehicle Wednesday morning along U.S. 169 in Owasso. The victim was 41-year-old Levi Allen Roper of Tulsa.
According to the Owasso Police Department, the collision occurred at about 10:20 a.m. in the southbound lanes near the 8700 block of U.S. 169.
When emergency responders arrived, they found Roper lying in the roadway. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials reported that the vehicle involved in the incident came to a stop in the highway median and had visible damage to its front end. The driver was not injured but was taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation and to undergo a blood test as required under state law.
After detectives interviewed the driver, authorities released them, noting that there is currently no evidence suggesting any wrongdoing.
Crash reconstruction specialists and a police drone team examined the scene, documenting measurements and gathering evidence as part of the investigation.
Southbound lanes of U.S. 169 were closed for more than two hours while officers worked at the crash site but were later reopened.
The Oklahoma State Medical Examiner’s Office took custody of Roper. Police also confirmed that he was not connected to construction crews working nearby.
The fatal crash occurred near the northern end of an active 55-mph construction zone associated with the ongoing widening project on U.S. 169. Police added that traffic in the area was lighter than usual at the time of the incident.
Authorities say this marks the fifth traffic-related fatality recorded in Owasso in 2026. The investigation into the crash is continuing.
