Fatal Bakersfield motorcycle crash death of Paul Anthony De Leon Jr. – Obituary

Authorities have identified Paul Anthony De Leon Jr., 29, of Bakersfield as the motorcyclist who died following a crash in south Bakersfield.

According to the Kern County Coroner’s Office, the fatal incident occurred on March 8 at the intersection of Mount Vernon Avenue and East Planz Road.

Investigators said De Leon was riding his motorcycle southbound on Mount Vernon Avenue at approximately 8:25 a.m. when he lost control while navigating a curve near East Planz Road.

The motorcycle then went off the roadway and crashed through a gate. De Leon suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Bakersfield police officials reported that speed is believed to have played a role in the crash. The incident remains under investigation.
