Fatal High Point, North Carolina shooting deaths of Jonal Hodge and Adrin Rome – Obituary

A tragic early morning shooting in High Point left a young woman dead and her boyfriend deceased in an apparent murder-suicide, according to police.

Officers with the High Point Police Department responded to reports of gunfire around 3 a.m. at the Oaks at Silver Ridge apartments on East Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. Upon arrival, they discovered 22-year-old Jonal N. Hodge inside a vehicle in the parking lot with multiple gunshot wounds. An officer immediately attempted life-saving efforts before emergency responders transported her to a nearby hospital, where she later died from her injuries.

Witnesses told investigators that the shooter was Hodge’s boyfriend, who approached the vehicle and fired several shots. Authorities later identified him as 34-year-old Adrin K. Rome of Edenton.

Several hours later, at approximately 7 a.m., a separate call alerted police to a suspicious individual entering a shed on Hendrix Street. As officers arrived and prepared to investigate, they heard a gunshot from inside. Upon entering, they found Rome dead from what authorities determined to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Police confirmed that no other suspects are being sought in connection with the incident. The case marks the second homicide reported in High Point so far in 2026.
