Fatal San Diego-area crash death of Alexander Charmoli – Obituary
Authorities have released the names of several individuals who died in separate traffic incidents across San Diego County over the past 10 days, with the most recent involving 18-year-old Alexander Charmoli of Apache Junction, Arizona.
Charmoli was riding a motorcycle southbound on Interstate 805 near Eastgate Mall in University City when the crash occurred around 4:30 p.m. Thursday. Emergency responders transported him to Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla, where he later died from his injuries.
Earlier incidents included the death of 78-year-old James Berta of Coronado, who was riding a bicycle when he collided with an SUV at the intersection of state Route 75 and Tulagi Road on Tuesday afternoon. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
On Monday morning, 78-year-old Antonio Boccia sustained fatal injuries after being struck by a vehicle along Challenge Boulevard in La Mesa. He was taken to Sharp Memorial Hospital but succumbed to his injuries shortly afterward.
Another deadly crash occurred Sunday evening when 33-year-old Guillermo Hernandez of Valley Center lost control of his pickup truck and crossed into oncoming traffic along Cole Grade Road. The collision also claimed the life of 75-year-old Grace Parsons of Encinitas, who was a passenger in the other vehicle. She later died at Palomar Medical Center.
On March 14, 49-year-old Ray Fredeluces of Chula Vista was killed in a head-on crash along Otay Lakes Road after another vehicle drifted into his lane. He died at Scripps Mercy Hospital.
A day earlier, 67-year-old Ted Zuidema of Santee died following a motorcycle crash on Balboa Avenue in Kearny Mesa. He was taken to the hospital but did not survive.
In Pacific Beach, 60-year-old Jamison Kimbrough was killed shortly before 1 a.m. on March 11 after his bicycle entered the path of a westbound vehicle at Fanuel Street and Grand Avenue. He died at the scene.
Additionally, on March 8, 26-year-old Nataliee Gonzalez died in a three-vehicle collision on Interstate 805 in Sorrento Valley. Her car struck a guardrail and concrete barrier before catching fire, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities continue to investigate each of these incidents.
