Fatal Iberia Parish, Louisiana pedestrian crash death of Katlin Khayankane – Obituary

A 24-year-old woman from New Iberia was killed early Saturday morning after being struck by a pickup truck while walking on U.S. Highway 90 Frontage Road. Louisiana State Police Troop I responded to the scene of the crash in Iberia Parish shortly before 5 a.m. on March 21.

Katlin Khayankane was walking in the westbound lane of the frontage road near Grand Prairie Road when she was hit by a 2014 Ford F-150 traveling in the same direction. According to authorities, she was wearing dark clothing at the time of the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene due to the serious injuries she sustained.

The driver of the truck did not report any injuries. While impairment is not suspected to have been a factor, routine toxicology tests were conducted. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.

Authorities are urging pedestrians to cross roadways at well-lit intersections and wear reflective clothing at night to improve visibility and reduce the risk of similar accidents.
