Authorities have identified 38-year-old Matthew Hinojosa as the man who died in a dirt bike accident near downtown San Antonio on Friday evening. Hinojosa, a father of three, was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the San Antonio Police Department, the crash occurred around 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of Hoefgen Avenue and Florida Street, just south of the Alamodome. Hinojosa was traveling south on Hoefgen when a westbound Mazda entered the intersection from a stop sign and struck him. Investigators reported that the driver did not see Hinojosa, was not under the influence, and no criminal charges are expected.

The Bexar County Medical Examiner confirmed that Hinojosa died from blunt force injuries, and his death was ruled an accident.

Hinojosa worked as a probate estate clerk in the Bexar County Clerk’s Office from early 2022 until late 2024 and later with Alamo Colleges. Colleagues remembered him as a hardworking and sociable individual who remained connected to former coworkers. He was described as a kind and generous person whose presence brought warmth and laughter to those around him.

Family and friends have expressed deep sorrow over his passing, highlighting his devotion to his children and loved ones. A GoFundMe page has been created to support funeral arrangements and honor his memory.
