Fatal Malmo shooting death of two British citizens – Obituary

Authorities in Sweden reported on Wednesday that the bodies discovered in a charred Danish-registered vehicle in Malmo over the weekend have not yet been identified. They are unable to confirm whether the victims are the two British citizens who were reported missing.

“We cannot deny or confirm it. We are unable to disclose the age, gender, or nationality of the victims,” stated Kerstin Gossé, the spokesperson for Malmo police, speaking to the Swedish news agency TT.

The Swedish police are treating the incident as a double homicide and await the results of forensic examinations to establish the identities of the victims. The British Foreign Office acknowledged that two British citizens were reported missing in Sweden but has not officially linked them to the burned car.

Earlier statements from Swedish authorities indicated that the victims found in the Toyota RAV4 were not Danish citizens, despite the vehicle’s Danish registration. The motive behind the alleged shooting remains unclear.

According to reports from Swedish media, the car had been rented from Copenhagen airport by a British national. Subsequently, the driver and a passenger crossed the Denmark-Sweden border into Malmo.
