Police in Arizona have confirmed that a missing woman is one of two individuals found shot dead in a parking lot earlier this month.
The deceased have been identified as 25-year-old Doris Aguilar and 51-year-old Juan Cuellar.
Authorities have classified Aguilar’s death as a homicide.
Aguilar was reported missing on July 1, and her body was discovered on July 7 in a steakhouse parking lot near 75th Avenue and Encanto Boulevard, alongside Cuellar’s body.
Investigators believe the bodies had been in the car for several days.
On Thursday, the Maricopa County medical examiner confirmed Aguilar’s identity, though the cause of death is still pending.
According to police, the car in which Aguilar was found did not belong to her. A firearm was also found inside.
Investigators concluded that Cuellar died by suicide.
Aguilar’s family and a private investigator suspect that Cuellar had been stalking her. Family members reported that she felt threatened and that a stalker wouldn’t leave her alone.
Private investigator Steve Fischer stated that the alleged stalker had worked in the same building as Aguilar until he was terminated a year ago.
Fischer also mentioned that Cuellar continued to send threatening messages to Aguilar.
Aguilar was reported missing by her family on July 1, and her car was located outside the Christown Spectrum shopping center in central Phoenix.
The car was unlocked, with most of her belongings still inside.
Detectives have stated that the investigation is still ongoing.
