Mitchell Henderson Jr. sought in fatal Fulton shooting

Fatal Fulton shooting death of Jakiem O. Braggs – Obituary

Fulton police have identified a new suspect in the shooting that claimed the life of Jakiem O. Braggs, a 19-year-old resident of Fulton. Authorities have issued an arrest warrant for Mitchell Henderson Jr., charging him with first-degree murder and illegal gun possession.

Braggs was fatally shot on Kathy Street in the 1200 block, as confirmed by the Fulton Police Department. Henderson, who remains at large, is considered to be armed and dangerous, although specific details regarding his involvement and charges have not been posted in online court records.

The police have withheld further information to maintain the integrity of their ongoing investigation. Meanwhile, three other suspects—Emmanuel Brown, 20, Taeon Logan, 23, and Quiara Walton, 19—all from Fulton, appeared in Callaway County Court via video on Friday morning. Brown has requested a public defender, while Logan and Walton are in the process of securing private legal counsel.

All three individuals face a council status and bond hearing scheduled for July 26 at 8:30 a.m. in Callaway County. Walton is charged with first-degree murder, while Logan and Brown are facing charges of accessory to first-degree murder in connection with Braggs’ death.

Investigators have labeled the incident as a possible “ambush” and revealed that Braggs was shot multiple times in the head when his gun malfunctioned. According to court documents, Walton allegedly enticed Braggs to the location following a dispute on Snapchat, where Logan, Brown, and a juvenile were waiting to ambush him.

Callaway County Prosecutor Ben Miller stated that all three suspects are currently held without bond, with a future decision on bond pending their next court hearing. Miller emphasized the lengthy nature of such serious cases, noting that they often span several years rather than months.

Authorities continue to search for two additional suspects and are urging anyone with information to contact the Fulton Police Department or Callaway County Crimestoppers. Miller stressed the importance of public assistance in ensuring justice is served accurately.

“Information is crucial to ensure we charge the right people with the appropriate charges,” Miller said. “We rely on the community to provide us with any details they might have.”
