Fatal Owego motorcycle crash death of Steven Myszka – Obituary
Authorities have released the name of the individual involved in a tragic accident in Owego.
According to State Police, Steven Myszka, 52, from Olean, was riding his motorcycle when he collided with a tractor-trailer while merging onto Route 17 on Thursday afternoon.
Myszka and his passenger, Karie VanDeusen, also 52 and from Olean, were part of a group of motorcycles merging from the Exit 66 on-ramp, which had been narrowed to a single lane due to construction.
Following the collision, the eastbound lanes of Route 17 were closed between exits 65 and 67 for approximately four hours.
Myszka sustained injuries and was transported to Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City. Unfortunately, VanDeusen succumbed to her injuries. The incident is still under investigation.
