Fatal Cullman County crash death of Madelyn R. Guerra – Obituary
At around 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 20, a tragic single-vehicle accident involving two pedestrians in Cullman County, Alabama, has resulted in the death of Madelyn R. Guerra from Adelphi, Md., according to Senior Trooper Brandon Bailey of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
“Madelyn R. Guerra, 20, was seated in the roadway when she was struck by a 2022 Toyota Highlander driven by 40-year-old Julie B. Austel from Fortville, Ind. Guerra was pronounced dead at the scene,” Bailey reported. “Another pedestrian, Tierra R. Cathcart, 19, from Anniston, was also hit by the vehicle. Cathcart sustained injuries and was taken to UAB Hospital in Birmingham for medical care.”
The reason for the pedestrians’ presence on the roadway has not been disclosed by officials.
The incident took place on Interstate 65 near Alabama 69, roughly six miles south of Cullman in Cullman County.
Troopers from the ALEA Highway Patrol Division are still investigating, and no additional details are available at this time.
