Fatal Ashtabula County plane crash death of John Williams – Obituary
A tragic plane crash in Harpersfield Township, Ashtabula County, claimed the life of pilot John Williams on Sunday night.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol reported that their Warren Dispatch Center received notification of the crash shortly before 6 p.m. The incident occurred near Mini Ranch Trail, south of Clay Street.
Upon their arrival, troopers found that a fixed-wing, single-engine aircraft had gone down east of Germack Airport’s runway.
John Williams, a 75-year-old resident of Geneva, was the sole occupant of the aircraft and was killed in the crash. The investigation by the OSHP is still underway, and the Federal Aviation Administration has been called in to conduct a separate inquiry into the incident.
