Fatal Daisy Hill incident death of Kiesha Thompson – Obituary
Larissa Rita Mae-Leigh Sant, 24, faces murder charges following an alleged deliberate hit-and-run that resulted in the death of Kiesha Thompson, 23. The collision occurred at around 9 a.m. on Friday, when Sant allegedly drove her silver Toyota Prado into Thompson on Allamanda Drive in the Logan suburb of Daisy Hill, approximately 24 kilometers south of Brisbane.
Thompson, who had just dropped her daughter off at daycare moments before the incident, was walking on the footpath when she was struck. She was rushed to Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane but succumbed to her injuries a few hours later.
Police allege that Sant and Thompson were acquainted and that the act was intentional. After the collision, Sant reportedly fled the scene. Sant appeared briefly in Ipswich Magistrates Court on Monday, where her solicitor, Thomas Allen, requested an adjournment to Beenleigh Magistrates Court. The police prosecutor agreed to this move.
Sant has been remanded in custody and will appear via video link on July 31. She did not apply for bail, as those charged with murder in Queensland must seek bail in the Supreme Court.
Detective Inspector Chris Knight stated to the media that the incident was not an accident but a targeted act. He highlighted the profound impact on Thompson’s family, noting that she was a mother who had just left her daughter at daycare.
Sant was apprehended in Ipswich after a silver Prado linked to the case was seized. Authorities continue to seek witnesses, including the driver and passengers of a bus that was on Allamanda Drive at the time of the incident.
