Fatal North Carolina kayaking incident death of Ross Burris Fulcher – Obituary
A 72-year-old man from Florence, identified as Ross Burris Fulcher, lost his life in a kayaking accident in North Carolina over the weekend.
According to Mike Barber, the public affairs director at Cape Hatteras National Seashore, the incident occurred on Saturday morning. Fulcher had launched his kayak from the beach near a boat ramp east of the Cape Point Campground near Buxton.
Witnesses reported that Fulcher’s kayak overturned while he was trying to navigate a wave.
Bystanders swam out approximately 50 yards to bring Fulcher back to shore and attempted to resuscitate him, but their efforts were not successful.
