A tragic boat crash claimed the life of Frank Carter during Sunday’s “Duel on the Brazos” drag boat racing event in Waco, according to Waco Police spokesperson Bryton Johnson.
The incident occurred when Carter’s boat, traveling at an estimated 200 miles per hour, “caught air,” causing it to flip.
The driver was ejected from the vessel and was pulled from the water by medical teams within a minute. Unfortunately, Carter was unresponsive upon retrieval and was later declared deceased. No autopsy was performed.
FOX 44 News has confirmed that the victim of the crash was indeed Frank Carter.
Waco Fire Department Executive Deputy Chief Robbie Bergerson noted that, although the department’s Water Rescue and Dive Team was not on standby, an engine company was dispatched to support ambulance crews with patient care after Carter was recovered from the water.
