A man has been charged with murder and driving under the influence in a crash that resulted in the death of 16-year-old Ricardo Funes-Barajas in Richmond last week, according to the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office on Monday.
Prosecutors claim that 30-year-old Alexi Pineda Ticas ignored a stop sign and sped through the intersection of Ohio Avenue and South 20th Street, colliding with the teen’s vehicle. The incident occurred shortly after midnight on July 15 as Ricardo was leaving a family member’s home.
Police have identified the teen victim as Ricardo Funes-Barajas.
