Fatal Lake Michigan drowning death of Akshith Reddy Bhandra – Obituary
Authorities have identified the man who tragically drowned in Lake Michigan on Saturday as Akshith Reddy Bhandra from New York.
According to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, around 8 p.m., three men, two aged 26 and the third 28, were swimming from Beach State Park to a rock wall when one of the 26-year-olds disappeared underwater.
By approximately 8:10 p.m., the Beach Park Fire Department, assisted by neighboring authorities, began a search for the missing swimmer.
After two hours of searching, officials recovered the 26-year-old approximately 30 feet from the shore. He was transported to a hospital in Waukegan, where he was pronounced dead.
The deceased has been identified as Akshith Reddy Bhandra of New York.
