Dae S. Hwang dies in fatal Pierce County pedestrian incident
Fatal Pierce County pedestrian death of Dae S. Hwang – Obituary
A 79-year-old pedestrian struck and killed in south Pierce County near McKenna last week has been identified as Dae S. Hwang, according to the Washington State Patrol.
On July 18 at approximately 7:20 a.m., Hwang, a resident of Roy, was walking along eastbound State Route 702 at 40th Avenue South. The State Patrol reports that she was trying to cross the highway when she was hit by a truck driven by a 30-year-old man from Rainier.
Hwang was pronounced dead at the scene, as confirmed by the State Patrol.
The investigation led to the closure of the road for over three hours, according to troopers.
