The Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office has confirmed the identity of the young boy who sadly passed away following a vehicle versus bicycle collision on July 11 in Akron.
Seven-year-old Kingston Solomon was riding his bicycle in Akron’s Firestone Park when a westbound SUV collided with him at the intersection of Dahlgren Drive and Rosemary Boulevard around 5:52 p.m.
Kingston was immediately transported to Akron Children’s Hospital, but unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries the following day.
The Akron Police Department is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident.
BICYCLE CRASH INVESTIGATION
Cyclists face significant risks on the road. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported that 985 cyclists were killed in motor vehicle accidents in 2021, marking a 5 percent increase from the previous year. Head injuries are common in such incidents, underscoring the critical need for bicycle helmets.
