Fatal Waco boat race death of Frank Carter – Obituary
Frank Carter, who tragically lost his life in a boat racing accident at a Waco event, has been identified.
According to the Southern Drag Boat Association (SDBA), Carter perished in a single-boat incident during the Duel on the Brazos at Brazos Park East on Sunday, July 21.
The Waco Police Department reported that Carter’s drag boat, traveling at speeds exceeding 100 mph, caught air and flipped, ejecting him into the water.
Despite medical teams retrieving him within a minute, they were unable to revive him, and Carter was pronounced dead at the scene.
On July 22, the SDBA issued a statement reflecting on the tragic event:
“The SDBA and Trinity Racing Ministries visited historic Waco, Texas, for the Duel on the Brazos this past weekend,” the organization posted on social media, with a tribute from Pastor Mike Griffith of Trinity Racing Ministries.
“It is with a heavy heart that we announce Frank Carter was involved in a single boat accident that took his life. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Carter family, the Flat Flyin team, and their friends. Please keep them in your prayers. Race in Peace, Brother Frank.”
Scott Carter, Frank’s son, shared with 6 News that his father “lived life to the fullest and went out doing something he loved.”
“He was a good man and cherished his family,” Scott Carter added.
Scott noted that his father had been involved in racing long before he was born.
The Texas Department of Public Safety Game Warden is overseeing the investigation, as the accident occurred on the water.
