Fatal Pine Grove Township car crash death of David Wolfkeil – Obituary
According to State Police, a severe car accident took place on Interstate 81 northbound near mile marker 98.3 in Pine Grove Township shortly before 4:00 PM.
The incident unfolded when David Wolfkeil, 69, from Niceville, FL, was driving a Kia Sportage and attempted to switch from the right lane to the left lane.
During this lane change, his vehicle’s front end collided with the rear of a Nissan Kicks. Subsequently, a third vehicle, a Hyundai Sonata, was unable to stop in time and crashed into the back of Wolfkeil’s Kia.
The impact propelled the Nissan Kicks into the rear of a Honda Civic, which in turn struck a Pontiac.
The Kia, Nissan, Hyundai, and Honda were all severely damaged and deemed inoperable, while the Pontiac was able to drive away from the scene.
Wolfkeil was injured in the crash and taken to Hershey Medical Center. His passenger, Jennifer Perez-Wolfkeil, 66, also from Niceville, FL, suffered fatal injuries and was declared dead at the scene by the Schuylkill County Coroner’s Office.
Information regarding the other drivers involved and their injuries has not yet been disclosed.
