Authorities have identified the suspect who lost his life following a standoff in an apartment on Monday.
In the early hours of Sunday, 34-year-old Idris Cooper was discovered fatally shot in a parking lot in Florence.
The investigation led to the issuance of an arrest warrant for 41-year-old Matthew Barry. Reports indicate that Barry, who had recently been released from prison, barricaded himself and his mother inside their residence. His mother managed to escape when authorities deployed tear gas.
Barry allegedly followed her and fired at the officers. In response, he was shot and pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
