Fatal Lake Wylie drowning death of Logan Gurley – Obituary
Authorities in York County have identified a 16-year-old boy who tragically drowned in Lake Wylie on Monday.
Emergency services were dispatched to Pictairn Park after receiving a report of a missing swimmer around 4 p.m. that day. The victim, Logan Gurley, was found and pulled from the water by the Charlotte Fire Department at approximately 5 p.m.
Tega Cay police also assisted at the scene. According to investigators, Gurley was swimming with friends when he disappeared beneath the water’s surface.
A representative from the Fort Mill School District confirmed that Gurley was a student at Fort Mill High School.

“Our hearts go out to the victim’s family and all those affected,” said Tega Cay Police Chief Crosby. “Tonight, as a community, let us hold our loved ones a bit closer, knowing that a local family is facing a profound loss.”
