Cord Friis dies in fatal Wilmette motorcycle crash
The motorcyclist who died in a crash on the Edens Expressway over the weekend has been identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Cord Friis, 45, was driving a Suzuki motorcycle south on Interstate 94 near Lake Avenue in Wilmette when it collided with a Toyota Prius while crossing onto a ramp around 8:15 p.m., authorities said.
Following the crash, the motorcycle caught fire. Video footage shows the motorcycle and pieces of metal scattered across the road.
Friis was rushed to an area hospital, where he later died.
The medical examiner’s office ruled his death an accident caused by a motor vehicle collision.
