Fatal Pilcher Park shooting death of Jayden Velazquez-Garcia – Obituary
A 19-year-old man, Jayden Velazquez-Garcia from Plainfield, was fatally shot on Wednesday night.
He was declared deceased at 5:43 p.m. on Wednesday at Ascension Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet.

Sheriff’s officials reported that deputies were dispatched around 3:45 p.m. after Velazquez-Garcia was shot while seated in a vehicle near Luana Road and Girard Boulevard.
He managed to drive a short distance before exiting the vehicle in the 100 block of Girard, where deputies discovered him lying on the road.
Witnesses observed one or more suspects fleeing westward on Luana following the shooting, according to police.
