The Austin Police Department has confirmed that Nickolaus Lauderdale, 43, was one of the two individuals who lost their lives in a tragic collision early Sunday morning on MoPac Expressway.
The incident occurred around 5:40 a.m. in the 12000 block of North MoPac, where an SUV and a pickup truck were involved in a serious crash.
Austin-Travis County EMS reported that the collision was a pin-in type, meaning the drivers were trapped inside their vehicles. Both drivers were declared dead at the scene.
This crash marks the 43rd fatal accident in Austin for 2024, contributing to a total of 46 fatalities this year.
