On Thursday evening, a tragic car accident occurred just east of Greenwood.
The Greenwood Fire Department reported on Facebook that emergency responders were dispatched to the scene at the junction of County Line and Combs roads around 6 p.m. on July 25.
The victim has been identified by the Johnson County Coroner’s Office as 76-year-old Caren Gilcrist from Indianapolis.
In the aftermath of the crash, traffic in the area was halted, and roads were closed for an extended period as authorities conducted their investigation.
Greenwood police, with support from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Department, are currently looking into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
