Richard A. Ornelas, aged 65, was tragically killed in a collision involving a truck and his motorcycle on Interstate 25.
The accident, which occurred on southbound I-25 near U.S. Highway 50, was reported to police at approximately 1:21 p.m. on July 25. Ornelas was transported to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The incident caused a significant traffic disruption, with I-25 being closed for over two hours before reopening shortly before 4 p.m.
Authorities are treating the crash as an accident and have indicated that neither alcohol nor excessive speed are considered contributing factors.
The coroner’s office has notified Ornelas’ family, and his death is noted as the third fatal motorcycle accident in Pueblo County this year.
