Fatal Payette County car crash death of Robert Giles – Obituary
Authorities have identified the individual who perished in a two-vehicle collision near Fruitland on Monday.
Robert Giles, a 53-year-old resident of Boise, was driving a Ford truck when the accident occurred. According to Idaho State Police, Giles’s truck was struck by an SUV traveling north on U.S. 95 after the SUV veered left around 10 a.m.
The Ada County Coroner’s Office confirmed Giles was transported to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center by ambulance.
Despite attempts to save him, he was pronounced dead at 12:43 p.m. in the emergency room. The coroner reported that Giles’s death was due to multiple blunt force injuries and ruled it accidental.
The driver of the SUV, a 55-year-old man from Caldwell, survived the crash but was flown to the hospital by air ambulance.
Traffic was disrupted for approximately two hours while first responders attended to the scene and cleared the wreckage. Boise police continue to investigate the incident.
