Authorities are probing a deadly shooting and vehicle collision in Vancouver on Friday night, which they believe was a deliberate attack.
According to Vancouver Police Department spokesperson Constable Tania Visintin, officers were dispatched to East 63rd Avenue and Inverness Street shortly before 9 p.m. following reports of two men being shot while in a vehicle.
The vehicle involved in the shooting subsequently crashed into two other cars near SE Marine Drive and Fraser Street.
Visintin confirmed that Hitkaran Johal, 25, succumbed to his injuries at the crash site.
Additionally, a vehicle was found ablaze near East 63rd Avenue and Prince Edward Street shortly after the incident. Investigators are working to establish whether this fire is linked to the shooting.
B.C. Emergency Health Services reported that four ambulances and a supervisor were sent to the scene at 9:03 p.m. Three individuals were transported to the hospital; one in serious condition and the other two as a precaution.
No arrests have been made at this time.
