The fatal shooting in Portland’s Morrill’s Corner area on Tuesday night claimed the life of Susan McHugh, 54, of Gray, who died from her injuries at Maine Medical Center.

Portland police have classified the Tuesday night shooting on Forest Avenue as a homicide following the death of Susan McHugh, one of four victims. An autopsy confirmed that McHugh succumbed to a gunshot wound.
The incident occurred near the intersection of Forest and Allen Avenues in the typically busy Morrill’s Corner area. Police responded to the scene around 8:45 p.m. and worked through the night into the early morning hours to collect evidence.
Authorities are urging anyone with information or who may have witnessed the event to contact the police at 207-874-8575 or submit an anonymous tip by texting the keyword PPDME and their message to 847411.
As of now, officials have not released any additional information regarding the identities or conditions of the other three victims.
On Tuesday night, Portland Police Major Bob Martin advised residents in the vicinity to shelter in place as a precaution. The advisory was lifted by midday Wednesday, but no details about any suspects have been disclosed.
