Pasco police officers fatally shot Salih Beslic, a 47-year-old man, on Thursday night after he reportedly advanced toward them wielding a machete.
Beslic, from Pasco, was identified as the individual who confronted officers in an alley adjacent to a shopping center located on the 3200 block of Court Street.
According to Franklin County Coroner Curtis McGary, an autopsy is planned for Saturday morning.
Beslic was initially in the parking lot of Andy’s North Restaurant and Lounge, where he allegedly threatened an 18-year-old. A witness reported on Facebook that Beslic chased the teenager to a vehicle, where the teen managed to call 911 at around 6:45 p.m. on Thursday.
A police Facebook update stated that officers attempted to de-escalate the situation, but Beslic purportedly refused to drop his machete and instead charged at the officers.
The confrontation took place in an alley near Cornerstone Church Tri-Cities, where one of the officers shot Beslic, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
