Robert Villa, a 37-year-old resident of Coachella, was tragically killed in a vehicle-pedestrian collision late Tuesday night.
The accident occurred at around 10:42 p.m. near the intersection of Gateway Center and Grapefruit Boulevard, as detailed in a coroner’s report and confirmed by Riverside County Fire Department spokesperson Jasmine Wood.
Villa suffered fatal injuries within minutes of the incident, according to the report.
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department’s Thermal station is leading the ongoing investigation into the crash.
Wood also noted that some nearby lanes were temporarily closed overnight for the investigation, though the exact length of the closures has not been specified.
